Why I started Tiny Tudor Houses

There are several reasons why and how Tiny Tudor began. As a traditional Property Developer, I am always looking for the next project and part of that is market research. What is the market looking for and what can we sell? The Housing Crisis was becoming clear to see in the UK and a whole generation is struggling to get on the property ladder. Well, believe it or not that effects the Developers as well. Developers can’t keep building houses that buyers can’t afford to buy. A re-think was needed.

Although I am from England, I have been Developing in Thailand for almost 20 years. I left the UK as the big Corporate Companies, at that time, where pushing the smaller building businesses out. The corporate companies sucked up the builders like the supermarkets had taken the corner shops. Working abroad was the best solution. However, in Thailand foreigners can’t buy houses and land in their own name, so although I have had a successfully building carrier and become a main stream Developer the market was still stifled, but with a different type of problem.

Then came the Corona Virus. A complete disaster to any business owner on any level. Shutdowns everywhere and in Thailand we were dead in the water, even forced into curfew, all business seemed impossible. Urgency forced me to search for a way out and recovery. Well, believe it or not, surfing YouTube one day, as we were in Covid lockdown, I found the Tiny House Movement and a whole series out of Australia and New Zealand. The seed was sown. Tiny Houses were a solution to all the issues.

Tiny Homes are a real solution for the housing crisis (that I have since discovered is an international problem). It is a solution for the foreign ownership issues of Thailand. They are affordable, they offer a real comfortable, but alternate lifestyle (that also addresses the environmental issues of today). I see Tiny Homes and Mobile Homes as being the property of the future and the young generation. Tiny Houses are cool, so much so, that I have now put my full 30 years of construction experience into the development and full production of Tiny Tudor Houses and will be shipping them internationally. I may never build a traditional house or apartment block again.

Who knows, could also be a solution to my eventual retirement? I quite fancy living in a Tiny House on a Thai island somewhere living the dream.
